“Tough To Imagine The Series Could End W/O Evanna Lynch”

Posted by Tanvi On June - 21 - 2010 2 COMMENTS

As we all know, the principal photography of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – both parts – has now been concluded.

Even though we cannot know what all will be included in the anticipated finale of the series, we can certainly hope.

MSNBC ran an article talking about what fans are most willing to see in the movies – including extra scenes that aren’t in the novel, originally.

Apart from Bill and Fleur’s wedding, Umbridge and Molly Weasley’s infamous moment of glory also mentioned are Luna Lovegood, Neville Longbottom and Professor McGonagall.

Luna, Neville, and McGonagall get their moments
The tertiary characters have always been a strength of Rowling’s books, even if they get shorter shrift in the movies. But one would hope that with two movies to work with, Yates can find time for Luna Lovegood, Neville Longbottom, and Professor McGonagall to have their moments in the sun. Rowling crafted climactic moments for all three: Neville actually destroys the final horcrux, slaying Voldemort’s deadly pet snake. McGonagall has a hellacious duel with Severus Snape that shocks even Harry. And while Luna doesn’t get a singular action moment, it’s tough to imagine the series could end without Evanna Lynch getting to take a bow as Hogwarts’ singular space cadet.

What do you guys think?

Rhys Ifans talks Evanna Lynch

Posted by Tanvi On April - 6 - 2010 6 COMMENTS

In a new interview Rhys Ifans, who plays Luna Lovegood’s father Xenophilius in the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, talks about the movie and Evanna Lynch:

“She’s amazing,” he said. “If there’s a question on set — and they have a plethora of researchers and people who’ve read the books — but if anyone needs to know ANY miniscule detail about anything that has happened in any Harry Potter novel from start to finish, they ask her. She knows it all. So it was quite intimidating. I was working with this expert in Harry Potter. But she was a joy to work with. All of them, all of the kids or whatever you call them, it was just a great couple of weeks.”

Evanna Lynch Talks Deathly Hallows and more!

Posted by Tanvi On December - 10 - 2009 2 COMMENTS

Over the weekend, at HMV signing, Emma from Snitch Seeker sat down with Evanna Lynch, Tom Felton, Matthew Lewis and Jessie Cave for an interview.

Evanna talks about Harry Potter and the DeathlyHallows, Luna Lovegood, Rhys Ifans and more!

SnitchSeeker: Evanna, what was it like shooting in Wales for the Shell Cottage scenes in Deathly Hallows?

Evanna: It was really nice. It was like a little beach away from everything. It felt really real because it was not a set. It was really open. It was freezing. It was kind of like home though, as well … a little place in the middle of nowhere.

SnitchSeeker: Have you been designing anything this year for the films? I know before you did the earrings and the lion hat.

Evanna: Not really, no, ’cause I have exams. I’m a bit busy. But I did try a few things on the Lovegood house. It’ll be really fun when you see that. So colorful. It’s so Luna.

SnitchSeeker: What’s it like working with Rhys Ifans?

Evanna: It was brilliant because he’s really so happy just being by himself. He’s really honest too, as well. Sometimes the clothes, in a way, are a bit out there. Sometimes when I’m on set I feel like I can’t talk to people in these clothes. But with him we were like a little group, a little unit.

Deathly Hallows: Info on Luna Lovegood’s Possible Abduction

Posted by Tanvi On December - 6 - 2009 2 COMMENTS

A crew member working on the sets of Deathly Hallows has released information about the filming of Hogwarts Express earlier in the year

Filming with the train did take place during September (I was there) but the shoot only lasted a day and a half and comprised of five runs. Because of the weather, they only managed to film on three or four of those. The location was Rannoch Moor (where they did that cool flying shot for HBP in 2007) and I was told by one of the studio chaps that they were filming exteriors for a scene with Neville, Luna and Ginny on the train. There were none of the actors present and the train was filled with local children from Fort William. Source

Also, the very first teaser trailer for the Deathly Hallows is now out in clear definition! It’s a brilliant footage from the movie – as well as excessively full of spoilers, so use your own descrition! This is the same footage that is available on the Half Blood Prince DVD.

And lastly, don’t forget, Evanna Lynch will be at the HMV store on Oxford Street, in London, England. If you’re going, make sure to head early – it’s a first-come-first-serve basis!

New Set Report from Deathly Hallows

Posted by Tanvi On October - 26 - 2009 1 COMMENT

HP4U have a new detailed set report from the Deathly Hallows : I, this time, it being the promising Wedding Scene of Bill Weasley (Domhnall Gleeson) and Fleur Delacour (Clemence Poesy). Along with this, the reporter was also fortunate enough to have a peek at other sites on set, including Luna’s house. Read on to find out more!

SPOILER ALERT!

“This of course was an incredible day; and really a strange and wonderful experience as a fan of the story. It was almost like being transported inside the books; and aside from just the wedding scene I also saw numerous other sites within the studio, witnessing such places as Luna’s home, which held the many printings of the Quibbler papers being prepared, of which she was the editor. Around her door were numerous paintings of varied creatures, some of which it seems only Luna herself bears witness to. In the attic above was her printer which she uses to make the many copies of her work for all her readers to mull over.

As I continued around the set, I saw the man who plays Luna’s father, Xenophilius Lovegood (Rhys Ifans). He was easy to spot, regaled as he was in mustard yellow, bright yellow, and brown. Then Luna herself appeared near him, and she was dressed in similar colours, daisies in her blonde hair. They reminded me of two hippies from the 60’s, and really seemed to fit well with their roles.”

Thanks Kayleen!

Luna Lovegood’s Frenetic Painting Room!

Posted by Tanvi On September - 7 - 2009 1 COMMENT

Guess what we have today? Our very first (in close up) look at a section of the entrance to Luna Lovegood’s frenetic printing room at home in the village of Ottery St. Catchpole – decorated in true Luna style!

………… ‘around her door were numerous paintings of varied creatures, some of which it seems only Luna herself bears witness to. In the attic above was one of her many printers, which she uses to make the copies of her work for all her readers to mull over’

This is going to be followed by another report and details from the sets of Bill and Fleur’s wedding, and we  do know Team Lovegood is a highlight of the event – apart from the bride and groom, ofcourse!

Can anything be more awesome?

Thanks for these exclusives to HP4U News!

Deathly Hallows Set Report

Posted by Tanvi On August - 13 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

A very detailed set report from Deathly Hallows has been released by fans who got the chance to visit Leavesden Studios recently.

They talk about all the new sets for the seventh and eighth films, including the Lovegood home, Malfoy Manor, numerous camping set-ups, Grimmauld Place, Shell Cottage and much more.

Stuff – and very interesting and psoilery related to both the Lovegoods follow below:

While there, our heads were whipping left and right as we saw Rupert, James and Oliver (one of which had a bandage over his head and ear), Mark Williams (Arthur Weasley), Emma, Tom, Bonnie and Evanna (both sporting hair nets so as not to mess up their ornate hair… presumably for the wedding scene about to be filmed), Stan (Krum… who sat at the table next to us and ate lunch by himself), Warwick Davis and his son, Domhnall Gleeson (had prosthetic scars on the left side of his face), several wedding guests and actor’s doubles. One of those was, we firmly believe, was Xenophilius’ double. He was wearing mustard colored corduroys, a pale shirt with a yellow waist coat over the top that was covered in flowers and shoulder length blondish-white hair.

The Lovegood house set complete with Dirigible plums (bright orange plants) growing outside, is built with a stone base with “the right side of the house pitted with holes where Death Eater spells had hit (squib explosions)” The report also states that  “they were prepping the house again for a much bigger version of that fight, apparently.  They were adding even more squibs for the new fight.”

Evanna to begin shooting for DH in May

Posted by Tanvi On April - 24 - 2009 1 COMMENT

Evanna Lynch recently appeared on the RTE Radio One Tubridy Show, discussing what it’s like being a child actor. She also confirmed that she begins working on Deathly Hallows next month, May. The podcast can be found here and here.

A transcript of the interview can be read below, thanks to SnitchSeeker.com

On the casting call:

You had to wait about four hours in the crowd. and it didn’t feel long at all, it was just really exciting. … They bring you into rooms. They saw everyone who was of the right age and nationality. They check your passports and everything. In fact, the girl in front of me who I was talking to, she was 13 and they just kicked her out. We went in. It was harsh at first the way they knocked people out. They’d take about 200 into a room and line about 30 up and they’d tell you to come forward and say your name and where you come from. And by that they would pick 2 or 3 people out and the rest would be, “Goodbye. Go home.”

We had 1:1 auditions then and they said we want to see you again, that was on Saturday. And then the next Monday they called and said, “All right, screentest with David Yates, Daniel Radcliffe” … cameras, the whole shebang. I was a bit tazed by then.

I’m still more a Harry Potter fan than an actor.

On the screen test at Leavesden:

We went to the studios. That was so daunting for me because you’ve been watching this thing forever and suddenly it’s in front of you. And you can’t believe it. They put us in costume and make up and hair and all this. And I was meeting all these people who I’d seen all the time and introducing myself to them. But it was like I was ‘reintroducing’ myself because I felt … as you do, you think you know the person you’ve been reading for years. And then we went on set and had to do a few scenes. It was so professional. It was like right out of a dream because it was all happening. It was a film set and they were treating me like an actor.

I went back home and they were kind of vague about it. They said, “You know, we’ll let you know.”

After school on the following Monday the casting agent called me up. I was in the local shop in Termonfeckin and my mom takes ages in the shop and she said, “Can you get to somewhere where there aren’t a million people watching?” So I went outside. She was very simple about it, what else can you say, she said, “We want you to play our Luna.” She said, ‘Oh, by the way. You’re not allowed to tell people – only tell your family – because we’re not going to announce it for a few days.” It was awful because my friends, I couldn’t tell them, they were asking the next day. And I had to go home after that and study for a French test because I’m a studious person and if I hadn’t studied, something would be up, you know? So we had to keep it quiet for 10 days.

On watching herself on screen:

Well it’s mad. I just felt like the whole time during the film it was like, “I’m lucky. I’ve won something.” They’d all been there for seven years and I found it hard to suddenly think, “Yeah, I’m an actress.” I just kept feeling like a Harry Potter fan. And they were all so nice and so welcoming, but it’s hard to go from one extreme to the next. I remember, at the premiere, I was sitting and I was watching. Half of me was like, “That’s not me.” and in that way I was able to watch it comfortably rather than objectively watching it. But at the same time, everyone else looked like they should be up there. And there was me … very normal, I know everything about myself. I’m not a movie star. It was confusing.

Rhys Ifans Talks DH and April Updates

Posted by Tanvi On April - 1 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

IndieLondon have a new interview with Rhys Ifans where they talk to im about his latest movie The Boat That Rocked. Ifans also talks of his other projects, Nanny McPhee 2 with Emma Thompson, who played Sybill Trelawney in the Harry Potter movies and also, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Q. Who do you play in Harry Potter? And is this something quite new for you, to be doing family orientated movies?
Rhys Ifans: I play a wizard. The last few Harry Potter films, I think they’re really cool. I was never a real fan of Harry Potter, but I love how they’ve become darker, and I love how Daniel Radcliffe and his co-stars have grown up through the telling of the story. Harry Potter is a little bit of history; it will be. So it’s been kind of a real honour being asked to be part of a project like that, and though I haven’t got kids myself, a lot of my friends have kids, so it’ll be great to do something they can see. He’s a good wizard – a really great guy. In Nanny McPhee, I’m a bad guy, someone you’d boo and hiss at.

Also, we have the April Calendar which features Evanna Lynch from the London premier of The Dark Knight.
