As all of you know Evanna Lynch’s birthday is on 16th August, which gives us – LunaFans.net, Evanna-Lynch.org and Ev-Online.net – almost exactly two weeks to put together something interesting this year – as it is her 18th birthday after all!

Instead of the usual scrapbook, we came round with this new idea: of putting together an online birthday celebration all day on 16th of August, the link of this will be sent to Evanna Lynch!

Recently, many of you might have seen that French magazine ONE had a feature on Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.

I was waiting to get the interview of Evanna Lynch too before posting, so here you go, you can see the scans here, and read the translation of the French interview below:

She has the reputation to be just as eccentric as her and that’s not totally untrue. But above all, Evanna Lynch is a promising actress who wants to further her career after this saga.

What happens to your character in Half-Blood Prince?
The position of Luna has changed in the film. She always had the reputation of being crazy and the other students of Hogwarts mocked her for that. But Harry is no longer ashamed to be seen in her company. From now on he mocks what other people think, he considers Luna to be his friend now, and she is really happy about that. Luna is important to him cause she reminds him of who he is, and helps him find the right track.

You have had the chance to discuss your character with JK Rowling. What has she told you?
She pretty much confirmed what I already knew: even though Luna has an air of craziness about her, she’s actually one of the most sensible characters of the saga. (laughs) She’s actually a lot more calm and brave than she might appear as. Nothing is like it first seems. Contrary to others, the fantastical and dangerous world they find themselves in seems normal to her, and she’s less afraid of death than her friends. She’s never afraid to be unknown and that’s what she’s trying to teach Harry as well.

If Luna had a boyfriend in the Harry Potter world, who would you like that to be?
I’m having doubts saying this cause he’s way too old for her, but I think Dumbledore would be perfect for Luna! (laughs) I know that’s impossible, but looking at their personalities, I think they really fit. They are both really tolerant and attentive to others.

How did your life change while working on these films?
Contrary to what many people might think, it hasn’t changed all that much. It’s true that more people recognize me on the street, but that’s not a problem to me. In my country, everyone is proud that an Irish person can play a part in the Harry Potter adventure. But it’s not difficult to deal with, because while everyone there is proud, Irish people are never too pushy. Paparazzi isn’t our thing. They leave me in peace so my life is pretty much the same.

You’re also studying while working on the films. How does that go?
All my classmates think I’m lucky cause I only have 3 hours of school during a day of shooting. But that doesn’t make it easy, trust me. I travel with a private teacher and I’m his only student, so it’s impossible to sleep in class! (laughs) Lessons are short but very intensive. And it’s sometimes hard to concentrate during a maths lesson before I have to go back and play Luna.

What will you have learned from this experience once the films are complete?
What I learned during filming is that you have the right to make a mistake sometimes. I was terrrified when I missed my step on set the first time, because I was afraid I wasn’t going to live up to expectations. But I learned that no one cares if you’re not perfect. They just ask you to try your best, and to me that’s a really good life lesson.

How do you after Harry Potter?
– Basically, there have been one after Harry Potter, when the last book came out. I felt an infinite sadness. Luna teaches that we must not let itself be overwhelmed by grief, so … I am okay. I have one year of school, then I will try to become an actress. I dream of touring with Tim Burton. But he impresses me so much that I have never dared to approach him – but then he came to the premieres of ‘Order of the Phoenix’ and ‘Half Blood Prince’!

There you go! We might still see our dear Miss Lynch in sectors outside Harry Potter, what say? She’s a talented actress who deserves as much!

“Always I have liked to read, and mum wanted that me to get used to more mature books, so she bought one of Harry Potter. It didn’t appeal to me, but she read a chapter to my brother and I remained hooked. I was eight years old. Since then, my love for these books has grown.”

Yes, even I am a big fan, I still read books and I love it, but now is different. Before Harry Potter was one of those things that almost came to define me as a person, but now I can not do that for the simple fact that the saga may not be all my life, sometimes I need to escape from it because this type of life known to many fans around the world and is good with you. So when I come home with my friends do not want to talk about Harry Potter, I just wanted to have a conversation about any other subject.

Spotlight: Kino.dk has talked with the persons behind Ginny Weasley and Luna Lovegood about Potter, being famous and Twilight.

On a hot summer day in Copenhagen Kino. Dk meets Bonnie Wright and Evanna Lynch who plays Ginny Weasley and Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter and the half blood prince

Even their young age, 18 and 17 are the two teen stars very talkative and answers questions asked by kino.dk users.

Question: It is the first time you are visiting Denmark?

BW: Yes we have been on a a boat trip and the city is very exciting with a lot of exciting actritupure.

EL: the weather is nice and people seem more relaxed than in London.

You have two different roles in the Harry Potter movies. Do you recognize yourself in GW and LL?

BW: I have known my character for so long that it can be hard to separate Bonnie from Ginny, because you take parts of your own personality with you in the role. Ginny is very independent and that I admire about the character.

EL: I am like Luna is very open. We believe things until the opposite is proven and don’t judge things on forehand. Luna is like the opposite of Hermione. Hermione has to read it in a book to believe in it.  I believe in magic and angels. But if you reject things, you don’t see them.

Where would the Sorting Hat being placing you?

BW: Haha. I think and believe that it would be Gryffindor and not Slytherin.
EL: I am not sure. I would like to see Gryffindor but I think it would be Ravenclaw like Luna Lovegood.

You all seem like a big family when you see a Harry Potter movie but who are you talking with most?

BW: The Weasley brothers, maybe because we are a family in the movies and them Emma Watson and Evanna. But I am doing fine with all and I hope to keep in contact with more of them when we are done with the movies.

EL.  Unlike a school when you have to be friends with those from the class, then it is more easier to find friends on a big set with so many different people. But I am most together with Bonnie, Katie – who is playing Cho Chang and then there are  always coming new people you can be friends with

You were only nine when you got the role as Ginny Weasley in the first Harry Potter movie. How much did you know about the Harry Potter world that time?
BW: Nothing! I started reading the book during the casting and then I fell more in the love with the world. When I read the rest  of the books I got surprised but happy because Ginny got a bigger role and bigger importance for the plot.

This is a question to Bonnie from Amina, 14. How was it like to be kissing Harry Potter?

BW: Quite strange now when Daniel and I have known each other for such a long time. But it went more eaiser than I thought. Before then I  was nervous because it is a moment many fans have been waiting for but I think it works fine in the movie. The scene took two days to film and I kissed him 20 times overall

And then Louse 12, would like to know how do you have time to keep up with school.

BW: We gets 3-5 hours personal tutoring ever day on the set. It can be quite intense because you cannot hide like in a class room. But I have passed the same exams like I would have done if I had going to a real school
EL. I try to come to my school once in while because it is very different here on the set. It is very hard, but they are trying their best to tutor the best they can

Before you got the role as Luna, then you wrote a letter til JK Rowling and she answered?

EL. Yes I wrote to her how much the book meant to me and I told her how much I wanted to play Luna in the movies. And then I got a handwritten letter back from her. She was very nice. She even wrote that she maybe could help me with a role as an extra. I answered, that then I could not play Luna…..

What is the best part and the worst part about being in the Harry Potter movies?

BW: All the experiences you get from being a part of it that is the best thing. The worst, or the most strange is that is such a big phenomenon. It is surreal to be recognized. I don’t get recognized very often that is a problem but I also like to talk with Harry Potter fans.

EL The best is that you are able to say that you are in the Harry Potter movies and then the friends I have got. The worst part is that you cannot be a Harry Potter in the same way as earlier. You need to have a life outside the work. I used to discuss Harry Potter on the Internet but I don’t do it anymore because now there are comments about myself. I loved to be in the line to get cinema tickets and make my own Harry Potter T-shirts. But that is not a very high prize to pay to be a part of the Harry Potter movies.

Then it is that you have to find a new thing to be a fan of . What do you think about the Twilight books?

BW: I have read the first book and I thought that they did a good job with the film. But Harry Potter is better.

EL: It is good books but I don’t think they are so fantastic as Harry Potter. I don’t think they are that good and for a time I were a bit like a anti Twilight. All said it was the new Harry Potter and I don’t agree.

I also tried to read Twilight in hope to find something who could be ’new Harry Potter’ but I had to give up after 40 pages.

EL: You did not like Twilight? I am happy to hear that. It is like the books are written by a girl who is a teen. But that is of course also the charm about it but you can not say they are fantanstic. Did you saw the movie?

Yes. I understand very well why it is so popular but I don’t love it.
EL: Haha. It is also get tiring that Bella all the time is talking about how beautiful Edward is. Get over it.

Last question is from Mikkel, 15. Which Harry Potter book and movie is your favorite?

BW: My favorite books in the last one in the series because everything gets tied  together and my favorite movie is the last one because I personal have learnt so much being a part of it. And visual it is also the greatest. The photographer has really done fantanstic work and the music is the best in the series. It is a very well balanced movie and it gives time to the different characters. And then the movie is great farewll to Hogwarts which not really is part of the last two movies

EL. My favorite book is the fiffth one and the last one. In the fifth one Harry learns so much about himself and everybody is expecting so much of him. In the sixth one he much more idenpendent and he does not care, what others think, that thing he learnt in book 5. And he last one I love because all get their big moment. My favorite movie is the last one. It is not driven so much of the plot as the all fans already know but is more about the characters.

The Interview is over. Now Bonnie and Evanna is going to Tivoli before the evening in Imperial where they are going to see Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince once more if they are going to be sitting.

EL. I have already seen the movie three times and if I see it too many times then I just get tired of it. So maybe I will go outside again when the movies starts

Also, Independent.ie has another article on Evanna and co-star Matthew Lewis. They talk about Harry Potter – of course – and being a part of the global phenomenon, their ordinary lives, and filming Deathly Hallows, the last movies in the huge franchise. Read an excerpt below.

Despite being part of such a global phenomenon and having such fervently devoted fans, both say it isn’t difficult to divide life into Harry Potter Life and Ordinary Life. They have had very positive feedback and Evanna explains that any criticism by fans of casting “is not really jealousy, it’s that they love the characters and they don’t want them to be altered in any way. That’s why I was so determined to get the part, I loved Luna so much. I would have been annoyed if someone else had played her, anyone else. I’m sure there are some people like that for us still though..

Currently filming Deathly Hallows, which will be the two final films, they shoot a few days at a time, over a few months. Evanna starts her Leaving Cert year in September and will go back and forth. “I just need to go back to school occasionally for that motivation because when you’re on the film set you are not thinking what maths homework you have to do!”

Matthew doesn’t worry unduly about being associated with such a high-profile role. “You have to be wary of being typecast, but I’m quite lucky because I like to think Neville’s quite different from myself. But Harry Potter has given me everything.”

They both believe it’s important to enjoy it while it lasts. “People keep asking if we’re sad about the end,” says Evanna, “but there’s no point in focusing on how sad or depressing it is because then you’ll just ruin it. Deal with that later.”

“In six months time this could all be over,” Matthew says. “I don’t like to think about the end and that it might be the last thing I do but you have to, or it will be the last thing that you do.”

Evanna, the first of the movies that you participated in, was the fifth. At that time, actors and film team already evolved into something of a family. Were you quickly some of it?
EL: “Not really, but it was all my fault. I felt they were movie stars, and I was really just a fan who had come on board. Everyone was so sweet and accommodating, but I kept myself very much for me himself. I thought they had more right to be there, which was a bit ridiculous. And it was not until this movie that I began to open up a little more. I was more relaxed and felt that I really had a Part of Harry Potter. ”

And as a huge fan of the books, you feel a special responsibility towards the character that you would portray?
EL: “Total. [Luna] was always my favorite character and I want the character to be granted justice. I am sure, there are fans who do not think that I reproduce their interpretation of Luna, and it is safe painful for them, but I just want to portray her as I see her. But JK Rowling and David Yates has praised me much, and I think they are the only ones whose opinions matter. If they are happy, I am happy. But when I see movies, so I do not see Luna so I still see myself, but it’s nice that there is always something to improve. ”

It must also have been a pleasure for you to work with some of the greatest actors in the industry?
BW: “Yes, it has been a fantastic experience to play with more or less all of Britain’s greatest actors. They are all so professional and fantastic, and they have always been happy to see us become better actors.”

EL: “I learned first of the recordings, how much they actually were. For me it was the three young actors (Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson, ed.), There were stars. I knew all of their privacy, but when Monday is 14, so you see not very many films, but when I began to see more movies, I really discovered that, oh god, they were gigantic. But it is interesting to see how all the work. Michael Gambon has not read books, and he does not rehearse all the replies – some of which he printed on large plates, which he read during the recordings. ”

How did it with that Harry Potter will soon be a finished chapter in your life?
BW: “It feels weird. We finished recording [the last film] in April next year, so now we can all look to end on the horizon. But none of us want to think about it, we’ll just enjoy it as long as we can. But it has been such a part of us all that we never forget what it has done for us, or the friends we have. We are all still young and we have many ambitions and different goals, so it will be interesting to see what people decide to do. ”

EL: “When I was finished with the last book stopped me up and said, ‘What shall I stand?” When you are a fan you always look forward to the next book or movie, and now there are about nothing more to look forward to. But I will continue to read books, and if [JK Rowling] has continued to write more Harry Potter books, she could possibly end up driving tired of it and I like the fact that it has been rounded. But I certainly hope she writes something different. And like soon. (laughs) ”

Did I want to continue to play play?
BW: “Yes, obviously. I knew nothing about the film industry to begin with, so I have really been absorbed by this world that I knew nothing about in advance. In the moments where shouting” action! ” and ‘cut,’ are all just click, and I love to play drama and be in nature. ”

EL: “Yes, I enjoy it really. I can not stand to see interviews with myself (laughs). I have the okay to see the films, but even that is a little painful, but I learn a lot from playing playwright, and it is so exciting to meet so many people and to travel to so many countries. It would feel like a bit of a waste if I just chose to return to my old routine, but there is much that I like . I love to dance, I want to study dance, and I love the French. I think English people are a bit ignorant when it comes to other languages. I would really like to learn more languages.

17 year old Evanna Lynch was hand-picked out of 15,000 hopefuls at an open audition in London to play Luna Lovegood – a strange girl who is described as having a permanently surprised look on her face and seems not to care about what people think of her. Hailing from Termonfeckin in County Louth, Evanna has become quite the local celebrity and has even experienced mild celebrity stalking, as she explains: “I remember once I went out on my bike and I got followed home by a car with a woman driving who said ‘I just want to get a quick autograph’ which was a bit funny.” But this is the kind of behaviour that actors have to put up with, when asked whether acting interested her pre-Harry Potter, Evanna says: “I was always interested; I went to drama school in my town. I even joined an extras agency once and when I was small I used to put on plays with my friends and I would try and get all the good parts.”

Despite looking every inch the star in a purple mini-dress and black stiletto ankle boots, Evanna agreed that she tries hard to remain grounded.
