JK Rowling on Evanna Lynch
The one person Evanna did meet properly was the creator of Harry Potter, JK Rowling.
Jo had earlier corresponded through fan-mail with Evanna and told her not to be disheartened that Termonfeckin was indeed an unusual name, but that couldn’t stop her from being selected as Luna Lovegood. It was, then, a big co-incidence that the person selected from over 15,000 girls was Evanna Lynch.
Jo describes the vivacious young Evanna as perfect for the part.
Jo updated her diary on her official site and talked about meeting Evanna on the OotP set “…Also met, and had a long chat, with Evanna Lynch (Luna), about whom there is only one possible thing to say: perfect.”
Also, Jo recently visited the Order of the Phoenix set, an she updated her diary once again saying, “Got a chance, before they all took off in their different directions (it was the last week of live actor filming) to talk to Dan, Rupert, Emma and Evanna, which is always wonderful.”
Also, at the James Joyce Awards in Dublin when asked “do you think about the film when you write?” Rowling answered ‘no’, but that “the only actor or actress who has ever, ever intruded while writing was Evanna Lynch, who is absolutely perfect as Luna. And I must admit I have heard her voice in my head when I wrote the book. I love Evanna Lynch she’s fantastic. She was perfectly cast, she was… she won’t mind me saying this, she is completely cool with this, she is Luna! She is very Luna-esque, in personality, and is just spot on for me.”
